Bio/Research

Prior to joining the faculty at Merrimack, Dr. Falk spent four years teaching in the Department of Family Studies and Community Development at Towson University. She spent two years in a postdoctoral research fellowship sponsored by the American Educational Research Association at the American Institutes for Research and one year in a postdoctoral research fellowship sponsored by the federal Department of Education at the University of Maryland College Park. Earlier in her career, Dr. Falk served as Executive Director of the Columbia Point Community Partnership, a university-community partnership involving the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and Harbor Point. She held leadership positions in the South Norfolk County Association for Retarded Citizens in Westwood, Massachusetts. Dr. Falk also served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Romania.

Dr. Falk enjoys teaching students to be effective community organizers, leaders, and citizens. She teaches courses in Diversity and Social Justice, Community Organizing and Development, and Theories of Organizational Change. Her research interests are in service learning and civic engagement and the scholarship of teaching.
