RESEARCH INVOLVES
Determining the influence of sex hormones on the mental functioning of aging men and women. Prof. Sherwin's research also focuses on the mechanisms by which hormones influence memory and mood in humans. Studies in progress are concerned with investigating the effects of estrogen on depression and on memory in a variety of normal and clinical populations (e.g., women with major depressive disorders, those with Alzheimer's Disease and healthy elderly men and women).

Investigating whether, and which, hormone treatments slow the decline in mental functions as we age.
