Bio/Research

Claudia de la Rosa-Fuller is a Ph.D. candidate in the Department of Spanish and Portuguese at the University of Arizona with a specialization in Border Studies. Her research and teaching interests lay in the areas of border theory, transnational and global processes, cultural studies, and Spanish, Latin American, Mexican and Mexican-American film, literature and culture. She has taught upper and lower division courses of Spanish as a second language, and Hispanic literature and culture at Louisiana State University and the University of Arizona. Furthermore, she has worked with BorderLinks, a Bi-national Education and Service Organization in Tucson, teaching advanced conversation and composition in Spanish with emphasis on border-related issues such as immigration, border security and human rights. Her goal as an educator is to engage students in a dialogue with cultural phenomena while analyzing the role of society, history, politics and geography in its production. Having spent nine years in Europe and almost nine additional years in the United States she places great importance in the development of cultural awareness and therefore encourages students to approach matters from different perspectives to cultivate critical thinking and to deepen their understanding of the multicultural world in which we live today.
