Bio/Research

Leheny is the author of dozens of journal articles and book chapters, as well as of two books, both published by Cornell University Press. Think Global, Fear Local: Sex, Violence, and Anxiety in Contemporary Japan (2006) and The Rules of Play: National Identity and the Shaping of Japanese Leisure (2003). Along with Kay Warren, the Charles B. Tillinghast Jr. '32 Professor of International Studies and Professor of Anthropology at Brown University, Leheny is co-editor of the volume Inescapable Solutions: Japanese Aid and the Construction of Global Development (Routledge 2010). He is currently completing a book manuscript on emotion, narrative, and Japanese politics.
