Bio/Research

Dr. Edward M. Jankovic, Doctor of International Business Administration and a former commodities broker, is a professor of international financial affairs and economics at the University of Bridgeport, his alma mater (MBA 1979).

Professor Jankovic has taught international finance, economics, and investments for nearly 20 years. His doctoral dissertation (2007) explains relationships among country risk and investor expectations in Central Europe. His book based on that work has provided policymakers and investors with practical information.

Before his teaching career, he was a broker for Merrill Lynch International, working with producers and growers of commodities in South America, educating them to hedging techniques in the commodity futures markets. Later he focused on money markets and foreign exchange products, last at EuroBrokers Capital Markets. He is a registered Series 3 commodities broker and Commodity Trading Advisor.

Professor Jankovic specializes in emerging markets finance and economies in transition. He has covered South America, Europe, and the Balkans in his business and academic work, and deals with organizations that need to handle business, political, financial, and market risks.

He also has interests in Russia and Central Europe, and has contact with cultural and language aspects at Marine Corps Intelligence.
