Bio/Research

My teaching areas are Human Sexuality, Child Development, and Adult Development and Aging. I have also taught a Women's Studies course and a Psychology of Gender course. Within these areas, I am particularly interested in prenatal development, childbirth, lactation and menopause, and the effects of lifestyle on health, disease and aging.

My research interests are related to the psychology of women in both its biological and social aspects. The most recent project of which I was part was the publication of a collection of articles which examined the experiences of women academics in Canadian universities. I was co-editor of Women in the Canadian Academic Tundra: Challenging the Chill, McGill-Queens, 2002.

Another long-standing research area of my interest is fitness and lifestyle modifications.

My current research plans are being revised in view of the elimination of compulsory retirement.
