Gary joined Toronto Metropolitan University in January 2020. His professional focus is advancing the practice of university-based continuing education, ensuring that it makes a strong contribution to the institution’s strategic goals. He specializes in fostering educational programming that responds to the needs of the various communities served by universities. He has a particular interest in online and lifelong learning.
Prior to joining Toronto Metropolitan University, Gary held academic and administrative leadership positions at several Canadian and international universities including the University of Manitoba and the University of the West Indies .He also served as president of the Canadian Association for University Continuing Education from 2017-2018.
Gary holds a doctorate in curriculum and instruction from the University of British Columbia. He also earned a Master of Arts degree in Education from Saint Mary's University as well as bachelor’s degrees in science and education from Mount Allison University.
