Bio/Research
Dr. Turpie graduated from the University of Glasgow and trained at McMaster University in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine. She is a Professor Emerita formerly Professor of Medicine in the Department of Medicine, McMaster University, a member of the Department of Medicine at St. Joseph's Health Care Hamilton and Medical Director of the Health for Older Adults Program at the St. Joseph's Centre for Ambulatory Health Care. She is the former Director of the Division of Geriatric Medicine at McMaster University.
She is a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada in Internal Medicine and Geriatric Medicine, a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Fellow of the American Geriatric Society, and a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons (Glasgow). She holds a Masters degree in Clinical Epidemiology and Biostatistics from McMaster University. She was given the Distinguished Service Award from the Canadian Geriatrics Society in 2004.
