Bio/Research

Our research focuses on the intersection of nutrition, infection, and maternal and child health in resource-limited settings. The goal of the Finkelstein Laboratory is to elucidate the role of iron, vitamin B12, and folate in the etiology of anemia and adverse perinatal outcomes, to improve the health of mothers and young children. During the past decade, I have conducted nutrition and perinatal health research in India, Sub-Saharan Africa, Latin America, and the United States. These experiences have allowed me to gain expertise in the design and conduct of randomized trials, cohort studies, and surveillance programs in resource-limited settings.
