Bio/Research

I hold a Ph.D. in Quaternary Geology from the Free University of Brussels (VUB-Belgium) and have a special interest in the analysis of Earth surface processes. My research work has focused on the reconstruction of environmental changes that have occurred over the last ca. 100 000 years and the application of luminescence dating techniques has constituted a central theme of these studies.

I have carried out field work in southern Africa, Europe, East Asia and North America and, hence, have had exposure to a broad range of environments.

My research work at present looks at proxy records in wind deposited dune structures in central and northern Alberta as a means of deciphering environmental changes that have occurred in western Canada since the last glacial period.
