Bio/Research

Dr. Kenneth Fung received his Medical Doctorate from the University of Manitoba; also completed M.Sc. in Medical Microbiology, and M.Sc. in Immunology/Biostatistics. After many years of clinical practice in various communities, he obtained his Master of Health Administration from the University of British Columbia.

In 2007, Dr. Fung was elected as an Honorary Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Health Sciences. He is a Visiting Professor of the Guangzhou University of Chinese Medicine, Peoples’ Republic of China.

In healthcare advocacy, clinical initiatives and public policy, Dr. Fung had been appointed to serve in the Community Advisory Committees of the following Premiers of British Columbia; chronologically, Michael Harcourt, Glen Clark, Dan Miller, Ujjal Dosanjh, Gordon Campbell. Currently. he is Chair of BC Premier's Chinese Community Advisory Council.

Dr. Fung has served as Board of Governors and as Senator of the University of Manitoba. He had held quasi-judicial positions in the Canada Pension Plan and Disability Review Tribunal as appointed by His Excellency, The Governor in Council. In 2001, Dr. Fung served as Secretary and Treasurer of the international organization of World Assembly for Mental Health. In addition, he had also served as Board of Directors of the British Columbia Medical Association, Board member of Section of Clinical Faculties of the BCMA, College of Family Physicians of Canada (BC), and Executive Council, Canadian College of Health Services Executives (BC). He is also a current member of the Canadian Bar Association.
