Kanevsky's research on the development of gifted children (with past and current funding from SSHRCC) examines the qualities of gifted students’ learning. Cultural-historical concepts and processes are at the centre of her work examining individual differences in learning and learning potential, and their implications for educational practices. Kanevsky's current research focuses on concept development while students are engaged in problem-based learning in Grade 4 Health Science Units.
