Bio/Research

Dr. Dubois was the Canada Research Chair in Nutrition and Population Health from 2003 to 2008. She is a Full Professor in the Department of Epidemiology and Community Medicine at the University of Ottawa. She is also one of the principal scientists of the Institute of Population Health at the University of Ottawa, and Program Director of the PhD in Population Health. Dr. Dubois received her Bachelor of Science (nutrition) degree from the University of Montreal and a Ph.D. (sociology) degree from Laval University. She is a nutritionist (Ordre des Diététistes du Québec) and a health sociologist.

Dr. Dubois' research interests include the study of social determinants and nutrition in populations, childhood obesity, food insecurity and nutrition policy. Her research is mainly based on government survey, birth cohort and longitudinal twin study data analysis. Over the years, she has been a member of various scientific advisory committees, including a member of the Advisory Board of the Institute of Nutrition, Metabolism and Diabetes of the Canadian Institute of Health Research (2003-2009). She does collaborative research work on the topic of nutrition, child development and obesity and social nutrition with researchers from different countries, including France, Scandinavia, Australia and China.

Dr. Dubois a détenu la Chaire de recherche du Canada en Nutrition et Santé des Populations de 2003 à 2008. Elle est professeure titulaire au département d’épidémiologie et de médecine sociale de l’Université d’Ottawa. Elle est aussi un des chercheurs principaux de l’Institut de Recherche sur la Santé des Populations de l’Université d’Ottawa et directrice du programme de doctorat en Santé des populations. Dr. Dubois a reçu un baccalauréat ès Sciences (nutrition) de l’Université de Montréal et a complété un PhD en sociologie à l’Université Laval. Elle est nutritionniste et sociologue de la santé.
