Bio/Research

Meg Zayan, RDH, MPH, EdD—Dr. Meg Zayan has been with the University for twenty two years and is currently the Coordinator of Health Sciences Community Health Education curriculum within the School of Arts and Sciences. Her previous positions with the University of Bridgeport include Dean, Director, Coordinator of Public Health Services and Associate Professor of the Fones School of Dental Hygiene. Her professional background includes numerous public health positions with the Colorado Migrant Health Department, the U.S. State Department in Niamey, Niger, and in private practice. She is a Board of Trustee member of the Southwest Community Health Center, a Site Accreditation Curriculum Consultant for the Commission on Dental Accreditation and a chapter contributor for five textbooks—Mosby's Comprehensive Review of Dental Hygiene, Dental Public Health: Contemporary Practice for the Dental Hygienist, Clinical Aspects of Dental Materials, Primary Preventive Dentistry, and General and Oral Pathology.

She received her Certificate in Dental Hygiene from the University of Pennsylvania, B.S. degree in Dental Hygiene Education from the University of Missouri-Kansas City, a Master's Degree in Public Health from the University of Pittsburgh and a doctorate degree in Educational Leadership at the University of Bridgeport. Prior to coming to the University of Bridgeport, Dr. Zayan taught public health and dental hygiene at Luzerne County Community College and Northampton County Area Community College, in Pennsylvania.
