Bio/Research

Melissa Haussman is Associate Professor of Political Science. She teaches in both the US politics and comparative North American fields. Her scholarship has generally focused on questions of women's access to power through gendered policymaking on reproductive rights in North America and representation in political institutions.

Melissa previously taught at Suffolk University, Boston, MA for ten years. She is the immediate Past-President of Research Committee 19, Gender, Politics and Public Policy, International Political Science Association, 2009-2012; and, is a member of the College Advisory Liaison Board of The Washington Center, the world's largest provider of public, private and advocacy-sector internships. She brought the agreement for internship provision through The Washington Center upon her arrival at Carleton in 2005.
