Bio/Research

Dr. Nelson N. Ngoh joined the University of Bridgeport in 1977as an Assistant Professor. He is now an Associate Professor and Director, Graduate Studies in Science Education at the Graduate School of Education. He is a graduate of the University of Reading in England, United Kingdom where he earned his M.Sc. and Ph.D degrees in Science Education with a bias to Biology. He did his undergraduate studies in Biological Sciences at the University of Yaounde in Cameroon.

Dr. Ngoh specializes in the pedagogy of teaching science, training prospective teachers how to teach and assess the performance of their students. He also teaches biology at the undergraduate level, encouraging students to take up STEM disciplines as their majors. Besides teaching, he supervises theses by Master’s, Ed. D. as well as Ph.D. students.

Dr. Ngoh has conducted research, presented papers and published articles, book chapters, and books on issues related to pedagogy and evaluation. Being fluent in three languages, Dr. Ngoh’s research has been concerned with the problems of learning in multilingual cultures. He has a rich background of international education with reference to the British, French, and Cameroonian systems. Having worked as an Assessor and Chief Examiner under the University of London School Examination Board and the Cameroon GCE Examination Board, Dr. Ngoh is particularly interested in the assessment techniques of the students we teach.

He is a member of the Connecticut Science Teachers Association (CSTA) and the National Science Teachers Association (NSTA). Dr. Ngoh has been presenting and promoting science in his role as the Director of the Science domain in the Association for the Advancement of Educational Research (AAER). He is a member of the UB Chapter of Phi Kappa Phi.
