Dr. Guarne's research interests are focused in understanding how architectural proteins determine the fate of DNA in chromosome replication and repair. Since most of the proteins that regulate this two processes lack a measurable enzymatic activity, our efforts are aimed at seeing how these proteins interact with DNA. To this end, we use structural biology combined with molecular biology and biochemical analysis to characterize how the structure of these complexes determines their function.
