Alexander Fouirnaies’s scholarly work addresses the political economy of elections. Much of his research focuses on how money and the media shape elections and affect representation and accountability. He is interested in causal inference and applied econometrics methodologies, and many of his projects make use of natural experiments to uncover causal relations between political and economic variables.
