Bio/Research

My research currently focuses on the development, production, cooperation and adoption processes involved in low carbon energy technologies, particularly in the developing world. I am particularly interested in examining the nexus between innovation and adoption and how cooperation can build indigenous capacity in developing nations. I am also interested in debates involving low carbon energy transitions (e.g. role of policies, appropriate pathways for developing countries).

I recently completed my PhD dissertation examining the role of trade and competitiveness policies in the uptake of renewables in Mexico and Brazil and also completed research through a fellowship examining the role of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) and Research, Development, Demonstration and Deployment (RDD&D) mechanisms on low carbon energy technologies in India, and more recently China, working as a research fellow at the Sussex Energy Group (SEG), Science and Technology Policy Research (SPRU), University of Sussex. I continue to be affiliated with the SEG as a visiting fellow. More recently I have been involved in a systematic review assessing the effectiveness of climate policies and a media analysis regarding smart grids in Canada.
