Bio/Research

Alison's work has ranged from television and film design through projects in international exhibitions and museums, to set and costume design for theatre. Alison's designs have been seen on the stages of the Arts Club Theatre, Pacific Opera and The Belfry Theater, Victoria, and Magnus Theatre, Thunder Bay, among others. She makes her home in Vancouver, where she maintains an active career in design and teaching.

With a degree in Fine Arts from the University of British Columbia she continued her training in Montreal, and returned to U.B.C. to receive her Master of Fine Arts in 1992. Alison was for several years Resident Designer for the Arts Club. She currently holds the post of Associate Professor in the Department of Theatre and Film at U.B.C., where she guides the costume design program.

Alison has received several nominations for Jessie Richardson Awards, and won the Jessie for her costume designs for Elizabeth Rex in 2002.

Recent professional projects include productions of Proof (Belfrey Theatre, Victoria), West Side Story, Elizabeth Rex, and Amadeus (Arts Club Theatre, Vancouver), and Giulio Cesare, Rigoletto, Tosca and l'Elisir d'Amor (Pacific Opera). Recent work at UBC includes set designs for Lysistrata and Oh What a Lovely War (U.B.C.)
