Dr. Antle is an Associate Professor in the School of Interactive Arts and Technology at Simon Fraser University. Her research focuses on embodied human–computer interaction and child-computer interaction and proceeds through the design and evaluation of tangible and multi-touch surfaces, and interactive environments. Dr. Antle earned Bachelor degrees in Liberal Arts and Systems Design Engineering from the University of Waterloo and a Ph.D. from the University of British Columbia. Before returning to academe, Dr. Antle spent eight years in the new media industry. She was the executive producer and creative director for CBC4Kids.ca, consulted on the first North American integrated web-TV show CBC Spy Kids, and was the senior designer and development lead for the start-up Brainium Technologies. Dr. Antle’s work has garnered attention from the Canadian New Media Awards, New Media Invision Awards (GOLD), SIIA Codie Awards, Webby Awards, Parent’s Choice Foundation, Flash Forward, Netscape Cool Sitings, Family Corner.com and Educating.net. In her spare time, Alissa hangs out on remote islands with her two sons and dog, enjoying a world without email, cell phones or traffic jams.
