Bio/Research

Allan Moscovitch is Professor of Social Work at Carleton University where he has been a member of faculty since 1975. He became a full professor in 1991. He has focused his research and teaching on social policy and the Canadian welfare state. He is the author and editor of several books and many articles on the history of social welfare and on contemporary social policy issues.

During his career he has been a teacher, researcher, community activist, government administrator and government advisor. In 1977 he was one of the founders of what became the Canadian Review of Social Policy. He was the Coordinating Editor during most of 1991 to 2002. He has since returned to the board where he remains as treasurer. He was also one of the founders of the journal Studies in Political Economy of which he was the editor from 1978 to 1983.
