Dr. Barry Arnason is an expert in the diagnosis and treatment of multiple sclerosis, autoimmune neuropathies, and myasthenia gravis. His clinical interests also include facial nerve problems, Guillain-Barre syndrome, trigeminal neuralgia, and Bell's palsy. Dr. Arnason sees several thousand patients per year--many are national and international referrals.
Dr. Arnason's research focuses on immune cell function in multiple sclerosis. His laboratory is looking at the role of certain immune cells, including T suppressor cells, IFN-secreting cells, and NK cells. He is also exploring the protective effect of pregnancy in multiple sclerosis. Dr. Arnason shares with Dr. Ewa Chelmicka-Schorr an interest in nervous system immune system interaction.
