Betty Soliven, MD, is an expert in autoimmune disorders that affect the nervous system, including myasthenia gravis, Guillain-Barre syndrome, other autoimmune neuropathies, and multiple sclerosis. She also co-directs the University of Chicago Neuromuscular Clinic where patients with amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, muscular dystrophies, and mitochondrial diseases are seen.
An active researcher, Dr. Soliven is involved in several neuromuscular clinical trials. Her laboratory research focuses on immune mechanisms and demyelinating diseases of the nervous system. In addition to investigating glial electrophysiology and biology, she is involved in studies pertaining to an animal model of chronic inflammatory demyelinating polyneuropathy.
