Bio/Research

Carolyn Greene is an Assistant Professor in the Criminal Justice Program at Athabasca University. Professor Greene holds a Bachelor of Arts degree (Criminal Justice and Public Policy) from the University of Guelph, a Master of Arts degree (Criminology) from the University of Toronto and completed her Ph.D. (Criminology) at the University of Toronto.

She is currently working on research projects examining the diversion of young offenders from the criminal justice system and on a collaborative project that involves interviewing Muslim youth about their views of and experiences with the criminal justice system in Canada. Her research interests include issues in sentencing in Canada and the United States, the operation of the youth criminal justice system in Canada, as well as perceptions of the criminal justice system. Professor Greene has taught courses in the areas of policing, youth justice, sentencing, research methods, and the psychology of criminal behaviour.
