Over the last 15 years Professor Swart has gained hands on experience with numerous laboratory research tools. From his experiences working in hospital laboratories and research training in Masters, PhD and post-doctoral research he is actively working to create challenging laboratory exercises for neuroscience courses and contribute to laboratory exercises in Biology. His main goals in developing lab experiences are to get students to actively pursue the subject matter, collect data on their own, and gain experience in a multitude of research techniques. Learning the skills necessary to develop and conduct practical experiments that adequately test theoretical concepts is central to development as a scientist.
