Bio/Research

We study how the metabolic properties of muscle are governed in relation to evolution, development, and stress, both physiological and environmental: how evolutionary processes influence the diversity in muscle bioenergetics across species and populations, how muscle metabolic genes are regulated in myogenesis, development, physiological remodelling and metabolic pathologies, how animals change muscle bioenergetics in response to environmental stressors, such as temperature and hypoxia. In all of our studies we attempt to integrate across biological levels of organization, from molecular biology to population biology.
