Bio/Research
Cinzia di Giulio, Associate Professor (Italian) World Languages and Cultural Studies (Chair) Ph.D. in Romace Languages and Literatures, main research interests and publications are in 19th- and 20th-century narrative, cultural studies, women’s studies, film studies, and linguistics.
She has taught a variety of courses (from Introductory Latin to Accelerated Italian for graduate students, to graduate courses in Women’s Studies) at such institutions as Purdue University, UNC-Chapel Hill, and Wesleyan University. She joined the faculty of Merrimack College in 1999, to develop the Italian Studies program.
Education:
Ph.D. in Romance Languages and Literatures (Italian and Comparative Literature) from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
Master’s degree in Comparative Literature (English, Russian, and Classics) from Purdue University.
Laurea summa cum laude in Foreign Languages and Literatures (Russian and English, with a concentration in Linguistics) from the Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore di Milano (Italy).
A native of Italy, Dr. Di Giulio grew up in Como. She came to the U.S. in 1988 to pursue her graduate studies in Comparative Literature at Purdue University. After spending a semester in Moscow to continue her studies in Russian at the Pushkin Institute, she returned to the U.S. in 1991 to begin her Ph.D. program in Italian and Comparative Literature at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, which she completed in 1997.
