Dr. Skidmore is a Professor in the history of photography and art with a research focus on women and photography in North America. Currently, she is working on a monograph on Philadelphia photographer and Rocky Mountains explorer Mary Schäffer. Her most recent major publication is the book This Wild Spirit: Women in the Rocky Mountains of Canada. An exhibition based on the book followed at the FAB Gallery in 2008 as part of the U of A’s centenary celebrations.
