My name is Cristina Perissinotto, and I am an author, a poet and an associate professor of Italian Studies at the University of Ottawa, where I also direct the Italian Language Program.
I have a laurea in political philosophy from the University of Venice, where I graduated magna cum laude with Professor Alessandro Biral as a supervisor. I also have an MA in medieval history and a PhD in Italian literature from the University of Illinois. My research interests concentrate on the crossroad of literature, philosophy and politics.
I published two poetry collections: Exhale, Exale, (Guernica, Toronto 2010) and Taprobana Tea (Campanotto, Udine 2010). I have widely published on Renaissance and contemporary literature and am presently working on a manuscript on possible worlds. A third poetry collection, entitled Tigers and the CEO is forthcoming from Guernica.
I co-edited Mediterranoesis, a book on the Mediterranean in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance, and have recently completed a monograph on Italian political theatre.
