Bio/Research

Dr. Daniel Havlichek graduated from the University of Michigan Medical School in 1981. He did his Internal Medicine Residency and Infectious Disease Fellowship at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. Dr. Havlichek joined the faculty at Michigan State University in 1986 and has held a variety of clinical, educational and administrative positions in the Department of Medicine since then.

He is currently Professor of Medicine and Microbiology, Chief of the College of Human Medicine Infectious Diseases Division, and Program Director for the Infectious Diseases Fellowship. Dr. Havlichek is course director for the second year medical student course on Infectious Diseases and Immunology and also teaches regularly in the College of Osteopathic Medicine and for the Graduate Medical Education Inc, Internal Medicine Residency program. Dr. Havlichek's academic interests include diagnosis and management of skin and soft tissue infections, HIV, and infectious disease prevention.

In 2010 Dr. Havlichek was appointed Chairperson of the IDSA Training Program Director's Committee.
