Bio/Research

Danielle Deemer, Ph.D., was born and raised in New Mexico where she graduated from New Mexico State with her B.A. in English and Anthropology. At New Mexico State, she became interested in the sociology of agriculture and examined rural food access issues in New Mexico as a McNair scholar. This interest in social issues surrounding agriculture led her to the rural sociology graduate program at Ohio State. While completing her M.S. and Ph.D. in rural sociology, she interviewed farmers, interned at an organic farming non-profit, started a community garden, and started a grant-funded tool-sharing cooperative in Columbus, Ohio.
