Dinkins has held several public service positions throughout his career, most notably as the 106th mayor of the City of New York. As mayor, he instituted “Safe Streets, Safe City: Cops and Kids,” the model criminal justice plan for reducing crime and expanding opportunities for children, and established the Beacon schools. Dinkins continues to advocate for children, education, compassionate urban policy, and tolerance.
