Dr. Martin is an Assistant Professor of Health Promotion, with an appointment dedicated to researching and teaching about issues relevant to Aboriginal peoples’ health. Dr. Martin’s research engages Aboriginal communities in population-level health research that is aimed at reducing health disparities. Specifically, her work uses community-based participatory methodologies to understand how to work with Aboriginal communities to address health issues that are of concern to them.
Her recently funded work involves a community-based oral health intervention for Aboriginal youth in south-eastern Labrador and a project that explores the ethical tensions that researchers face when working with Aboriginal communities.
