- Dr. Detlof von Winterfeldt’s research interests are in the foundation and practice of decision and risk analysis applied to the areas of technology development, environmental risks, natural hazards and terrorism. - In 2004 he co-founded the National Center for Risk and Economic Analysis of Terrorism Events (CREATE), funded by the US Department of Homeland Security. - He has taught courses in statistics, decision analysis, risk analysis, systems analysis, research design, and behavioral decision research. - He has served on fifteen committees of U.S. National Academies. - At the University of Southern California, Detlof von Winterfeldt holds a joint appointment as Professor of Public Policy at the Sol Price School as well as the inaugural J.A. Tiberti Chair of Ethics and Decision Making and a Professor of Systems Engineering at the Department of Industrial and Systems Engineering in the Viterbi School of Engineering. - He holds a Ph.D. in Mathematical Psychology from the University of Michigan.
