Bio/Research

Douglas Justice is associate director and curator of collections at UBC Botanical Garden. He instructs LARC 316 (Trees and Shrubs in the Landscape) and APBI 322 (Horticulture Techniques) at UBC and through the Botanical Garden provides botanical and horticultural extension for the public, industry, and the university community. Douglas is an advocate for trees and the conservation of natural ecosystems. He co-authored the Jade Garden with Botanical Garden staff in 2005 and wrote the booklet Ornamental Cherries in Vancouver for the 2009 Vancouver Cherry Blossom Festival. He is currently preparing a study of the snake-bark maples in UBC Botanical Garden and a book on ornamental trees for the Vancouver area.
