Bio/Research
We are currently looking at the chemistry of pyrazole diamides. We are trying to make new medicinal compounds which possess, in one drug, both antibiotic and anti-inflammatory properties. Ed is also interested in Hetero Diels-Alder reactions to construct molecules with interesting cage-like properties which, hopefully, rearrange to form new types of compounds.
Why Creation over Evolution?
Ed has always been a curious person (interpret that as you like). As a young boy, he spent hours exploring creeks, live-trapping raccoons, making plaster of Paris impressions of animal prints and raising abandoned birds (which he mistakenly rescued from a bird sanctuary). He became a scientist because the beauty of nature captured him early and he wanted answers to the many questions he asked his teachers. Ed became a follower of Jesus Christ at the age of 18 and soon learned that his biology professors and the Bible were at odds. This started an eye opening period of comparing the evidence against both origin accounts. It became very apparent that the Biblical story of creation was far more consistent with the evidence than evolution. It bothered Ed that people would use evolution as a crutch to not search for our Creator God. So he became involved with the creationist movement and started to speak about the truth of the creation model – the Biblical story of creation. Ed continues to educate people in creation-evolution talks and will continue to do so until he breathes his last. Unashamed of the truth of Jesus’ creation account as told in the Bible.
