Bio/Research

My laboratory investigates several arthropod-borne diseases.  Studies are directed toward understanding the pathogenesis of, and developing new strategies to prevent, Lyme disease, human anaplasmosis and West Nile encephalitis. West Nile virus can cause fatal encephalitis, and we seek to understand the pathogenesis of this emerging mosquito-borne disease. Finally, we are also developing molecular approaches to prevent ticks and mosquitoes from feeding on a mammalian host, thereby interfering with pathogen transmission.
