Estelle Chaussard is an academic expert in geohazards, remote sensing, active tectonics, hydrology, volcanology and landslide mechanics. At the University of Oregon, she is an assistant professor of earth sciences. Her research focuses on the development and usage of space geodetic techniques to detect small movements of the Earth's surface in relation with natural hazards (landslides, volcanism, and seismic and aseismic crustal faulting) and with anthropogenic activities (groundwater pumping, mining, etc.). The general goal of her research is to reach a better quantitative understanding of physical processes operating in the Earth to improve hazard characterization and risk mitigation.
