Bio/Research

I am a translational clinical and genetic researcher and a child, adolescent, and adult psychiatrist. My research primarily focuses on genetic, phenotypic, and developmental aspects of childhood neuropsychiatric disorders such as obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). My clinical, teaching, and research efforts focus on the interplay and translation between genetic, developmental, clinical, and familial aspects of OCD and related neuropsychiatric conditions throughout the lifespan.

My current collaborative research focuses on developing clinical applications for genome data in OCD; investigating brain function, structure and genes in OCD; and conducting a genome-association study to genotype one million single nucleotide polymorphisms along the DNA of OCD cases and their parents or controls.

My team and I aim to build a collaborative, multidisciplinary, BC Children’s Hospital-UBC clinic and research program that focuses on the needs of children and families affected by OCD, while adopting a lifespan approach.
