In November 2011 Professor Ashcroft was named 2012 European Laureate in the L'Oreal-Unesco For Women in Science Awards.
Her publications include "Life at the Extremes" (2000) and "Ion Channels and Disease" (1999) and she is co-editor of "Insulin: Molecular Biology to Disease" (1992).
