Professor Baker has taught administrative law, legal history, and contract law. His research focuses on intellectual history and history of the legal professions.
He has won publishing awards from the American society for Legal History and the Canadian Historical Association, and has held visiting appointments at the University of Chicago, Osgoode Hall, and University of Toronto law schools.
Professor Baker has served as Associate Dean (Academic) and as Associate Dean (Graduate Studies) of the Faculty of Law, and has thrice been awarded McGill teaching excellence prizes.
