Bio/Research

My research has primarily involved investigating mechanisms of action of antidepressant and antipsychotic drugs. In recent years, I have been extending my work on amino acids (primarily GABA, glutamate, glutamine, D-serine and ornithine) to studies on mechanisms of actions of novel drugs which may be useful for treatment of neurodegenerative disorders and stroke. Other areas of interest include: the role of neuroactive steroids in the etiology and pharmacotherapy of psychiatric disorders; the development and preclinical testing of potential neuroprotective drugs; and reactive aldehydes and neuropsychiatric disorders.
