Bio/Research

The Loppnow group is primarily interested in the interaction of light with biomolecules, the chemical and physical mechanisms of such interactions, and their exploitation for analytical purposes. More specifically, we are examining nucleic acid damage, protection, and repair; photosynthesis and respiration; vision; and solar energy cells. In addition, we are developing novel analytical tools and methods for biology. Tools of choice include spectroscopy, photochemistry, and microarray/microfluidic techniques.
