Bio/Research

Professor Swaters received the Honours B. Math. in Applied Mathematics from the University of Waterloo, and received the Ph.D. in Applied Mathematics and Physical Oceanography from the University of British Columbia under the supervision of Professor Lawrence A. Mysak, CM, FRSC. Dr. Swaters completed Post-Doctoral studies in the Department of Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Since joining the University of Alberta, Dr. Swaters has held concurrent visiting positions at the National Center for Atmospheric Research in Boulder, USA, the Isaac Newton Institute for the Mathematical Sciences in Cambridge, UK, and the French Institute for the Research and the Exploitation of the Sea in Brest, France.
