Hans Dreyer is an academic expert in metabolism, muscle physiology and physical rehabilitation. At the University of Oregon, he is an associate professor of human physiology. His current research, funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH), looks at the effects of total knee replacements on muscle physiology and metabolism. The goal of the project is to develop strategies to preserve and help rebuild muscle throughout the surgical process. His past research found that the use of essential amino acids reduces muscle losses and promotes a speedier recovery in patients requiring total knee replacement surgery.
