Vancouver born soprano, Heather Thomson-Price began her career, at the age of 19, as a finalist of the Metropolitan Opera International Auditions and winner of the San Francisco Opera International Auditions. These auditions launched a long and successful international opera career performing a wide variety of roles including Mimi in La Bohиme, Anne Trulove in The Rakes Progress, Marguerite in Faust, and Rosalinda in Die Fledermaus. Her repertoire ranges from Mozart to Wagner and Strauss to world premieres of modern operas including Harry Sommer’s Mario the Magician Wilson’s, Heloise and Abelard and Goldschmidt’s Beatrice Cenci. She is especially known for her interpretation of Puccini’s Tosca and Manon Lescaut.
She has sung throughout Europe including the British Isles, Norway, Czechoslovakia, Germany, Switzerland, Holland and Italy. She has also toured concerts in Asia and China. She has, as well, sung throughout the USA, Canada and South America. From 1998- 2000 she was an Adjunct Professor at Western Connecticut State University. She has also taught at the Otto Von Guericke Universitat in Magdeburg, Germany and co-founded, with her husband, tenor, Perry Price, the New England Vocal Studio in Conneticut and a summer program called The Singer’s Retreat in New York. Heather Thomson-Price began teaching at the UBC School of Music in the fall of 2000.
