Bio/Research
Irena R. Makaryk is professor of English at the University of Ottawa. She is a member of the Advisory Executive Committee of the Chair of Ukrainian Studies, University of Ottawa and the author of numerous articles and author/editor of several books, including Encyclopedia of Contemporary Literary Theory (1993), 'Living record': Essays in Memory of Constantine Bida (1992), Shakespeare in Canada: 'a world elsewhere'? (coedited with Diana Brydon) and Shakespeare in the Undiscovered Bourn: Les Kurbas, Ukrainian Modernism, and Early Soviet Cultural Politics (2004) . She is a coeditor of Поза Традиції: Антологія модерної української поезії в діяспорі. Irena has also held teaching positions at the University of Toronto and Ryerson University.
