Bio/Research

The goal of our research is to provide a long-term and large-scale context for understanding how human activities alter aquatic ecosystems.

Recent and ongoing work largely falls into one of three thematic areas: 1) Quantifying past changes in fish populations and understanding how these dynamics affect freshwater ecosystems; 2) Advancing knowledge on eutrophication and shallow lake ecology; and, 3) Studying northern lakes as sentinels of environmental change.
