Bio/Research

Dr. Leighton's research focuses on the affective and cognitive variables that influence student learning and performance on standardized achievement tests. Her research combines the learning sciences and educational measurement. Dr. Leighton’s current plan of study is focused on testing the Learning Errors and Formative Feedback (LEAFF) model of instruction and assessment. Her current plan of study involves examining instructional and assessment methods for Learning Environments Across Disciples (LEADs) in Technology Rich Environments – the LEADs project is a 2.5 million Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council of Canada (SSHRC) Partnership Research Grant (Susanne P. Lajoie, McGill University – PI).
